Why do people act differently around different people?

People do not notice how differently they act around different people. Everyone wears a mask at one point in their life, whether they realize it or not. Maybe people wear a mask to cover up their real personality. They do not know how to fit in and make friends, so they create a new, fake personality. They act ‘normal’ around the people they trust the most, but when they meet someone new, they hide all of their insecurities and perks.  Some people do not like opening up to new people and build a wall to keep them out. They feel as if they cannot be them-self, because someone who does not know them well enough will feel uncomfortable and leave them. People try to be who others want them to be, so others will like them. People want to be accepted so badly and will even change their unique characteristics just to fit in.

Each person you know could have a completely different side to them.  You meet someone and you might judge them based on their first impression.  Someone might make an amazing first impression on you, but as you get to know them better, you discover their quirks and flaws.  When you first meet someone, their mask may be on all the way on, but as you get to know them they may slowly lower it.  How close you are with them, how much you effect their life, and how comfortable they are with you will determine how much of the mask you see.
